A Book About My Wife’s Battle With Alzheimer's
My name is Luke Taylor, a retired U.S. Army and a loving husband and caregiver to my wife of 47 years, Harriet Elizabeth Adams Taylor. Though she succumbed to Alzheimer's, I wrote a book entitled “Life Of A Caregiver” as my way to save her. Continue browsing through my book site to learn more about her health and spiritual journey.
The primary purpose of this book is to pay homage to my wife's life and legacy. The secondary purpose is to help individuals who need facts, figures, and options on decision-making on caregiving. I aim to guide them by discussing the following:
There are three options laid out in the book about whether to be a full-time caregiver at home, to send a loved one to a memory care center, or to bring in a lot of things for the loved one in a system known as PACE. The decision-making options are listed in Chapter 5 of the book, and hopefully, I have laid them out with enough facts and figures to help someone make their decision easier.
Another purpose is to show my readers the love and passion we had for each other and our two children's rearing. We wanted the best for them in everything: academically, socially, and most importantly, spiritually.
Looking back now, I believed that I have failed somewhat in the spiritual realm by not taking them to church as much as we should have. Even though we considered having a Christian home to grow up in, it was not ideal. It could have been a lot better.
I am grateful to everyone for their kindness and understanding of what my wife, Harriet, was going through with steadily losing all her cognitive abilities. Importantly to me and hopefully to all my readers, they can see why I turned to my wife's supernatural healing when there was no cure for the disease in the natural state. It was what I call our spiritual awakening moment in looking for a cure.
Lastly, I want to tell everyone there can be peace, joy, and happiness in one's life by meeting someone new after their spouses have passed. I did. Today, I can honestly say that God answered our prayers, with both of us praying to send a Christian Person our way. We call it divine intervention.
Thank you, Jesus, for the love You have given us, the hundreds of blessings, and the wherewithal to work to spread the message of how Jesus loves all of humanity.
